Did the authorities ever try the keys found on Arnold to the couples house and/or car? The couple the witness said Arnold was with after the accident and even talked to. Also, did they determine the cause of death for both Arnold and Ruby?

Investigators attempted to figure out what the keys went to, but were unable to match them with any buildings or vehicles. The coroner considered exposure to be the cause of death for both Ruby and Arnold. Deputy Youngstrom, who investigated their deaths, believes it’s possible that they froze to death, but is adamant in his belief that regardless of how they died, neither of them died in the ditch where their bodies were eventually found.
